Epoxy Floor Coatings
A tough, cleanable coat for garages, laundry rooms and workshops, laid over concrete we've ground first so it bonds instead of lifting at the edges a year later.
Truefinish Monterey Epoxy Flooring coats, polishes and repairs concrete floors in Pacific Grove, from tight garages and basements to patios and pool decks. We're a flooring contractor based next door in Monterey, coating concrete since 2013.

Pacific Grove butts right up against Monterey, so it's barely a drive for us, but it's its own city with its own local government, the City of Pacific Grove. Most calls I get here are for garages, basements and patios on older houses, and the concrete has usually been painted, patched or sealed a few times before I ever see it.
The price mostly comes down to the size of the floor, how much old coating and damage we have to grind off, and which system you pick, since a full flake garage floor takes more material and labor than a clear sealer. The schedule turns on that same prep, any crack repair and how long the coating needs to cure before you walk or park on it, and I put all of it in your written estimate.
We do the same work in Monterey, Seaside and up the coast in Marina, so if you've got a floor in one of those cities too, mention it when you call.
I come out to look at the floor, measure and test the slab before anything's priced, because what's under the old paint decides which coating will actually stick.
Most floors that peel or bubble were rushed before the first coat went down, so we spend the time grinding and repairing the concrete instead of hiding problems under fresh color.
Our crew does the work with my lead installer running the job, and I'm on site checking in, so the person who tested your slab sees it through.

For shops, studios and storefronts where carts, foot traffic and spills hit the floor all day, we pick a thicker system and plan the work around your hours where we can.
Many older garages we see have oil stains, old paint and hairline cracks, so we clean, grind and fill those before a flake or solid-color coat goes down.
A faster-curing coating than standard epoxy, good if you can't give up the garage for long. It sets quickly, so we have everything ground and patched before we open a can.
A glossy, swirled finish for basements, home gyms and showrooms. No two floors come out alike, and because the gloss shows every dip, we level low spots before the color goes on.
Built for commercial kitchens and wash-down rooms that see hot water, grease and big temperature swings, where a regular epoxy would soften or wear through too soon.
We grind the slab in finer and finer passes and harden the surface to a sheen, so there's no coating to peel. It works best when the concrete is in decent shape.
Color that soaks into the concrete instead of sitting on top, good for patios and interior slabs. Stain shows old patches and stains rather than hiding them, so we talk that through.
Stone or glass chips set in a binder and ground smooth, for entries and busy floors. It costs more, and I'll tell you if polished concrete suits you better.
Basement slabs can push moisture up through the concrete, so I test before we pick a coating, because the wrong system over a damp slab is how floors bubble and peel.
We grind off old paint, sealer and glue and open up the concrete so a new coating can bond. Plenty of floors only need prep and a sealer, not a full system.
A clear sealer for patios, walkways and garage floors that cuts down on stains and dusting, the simple option when the concrete looks fine and you just want it protected.
A thin new layer over concrete that's worn, pitted or patched in a dozen places, usually cheaper than tearing out a sound slab, as long as the concrete underneath isn't moving.
A pourable mix that flattens out dips and humps, usually before new tile, vinyl or a coating goes down, because an uneven floor shows through whatever goes on top.
A textured coating or overlay for pool decks and patios that gives bare feet some grip, laid over concrete we've repaired first so cracks don't show back through.
When old epoxy, paint or tile adhesive is failing, we take it down to bare concrete, because a new coat over a failing one just peels off with it.
Send the form and we'll reply within one business day to set up a visit. I'll look at the floor in person and you'll get a free written estimate, with no obligation.
We're licensed and insured, and our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. Ask anything you like at the estimate, since that's what it's for.
I started this business in Monterey in 2013, after learning the trade hauling grinders on a coating crew, so I've seen plenty of floors that held up and plenty that didn't.
If a clear sealer or a polished slab does the job for less than a full coating system, I'll tell you, because you should know what you're paying for.
Here's what Pacific Grove homeowners usually ask me when they're deciding what to do with a garage, basement or patio floor.
Usually not directly, because a new coat is only as good as the paint underneath it, and old paint is one of the most common reasons a garage floor peels. We grind or strip it down to bare concrete, then fill cracks and pits so the new coating bonds to the slab itself. If the old paint is barely hanging on, that part goes quickly.
Go with polyaspartic if you need the garage back fast, and epoxy if you'd rather have a lower material cost and a product that gives the crew more working time. Both hold up well on a garage floor when the concrete is prepped right. I'll go over both at the estimate and tell you which one I'd pick for how you use yours.
It's a good choice when the slab is in decent shape and you like the look of concrete, because there's no coating to peel or redo later. Cracks and old patches will still show, since we're grinding the concrete itself. If your slab is rough, an overlay or a coating usually makes more sense, and I'll tell you which.
